Creep (2004)

Date Watched: July 15, 2011

You know, this was really a shame. It started out pretty creepy, and the premise was good: Woman falls asleep at the Underground station, and when she wakes up, she’s trapped there for the night… with someone or someTHING else.

But then they made the someone/something a being… I don’t know how else to describe it. But it turned into a THING living underground, and the camera followed it for a while, and we had clear, long shots of it. Once you can see a ‘thing’ for more than a few seconds, it’s not scary or creepy anymore. Especially when you get right up in its face while it begs to not be hurt. Give me a damned break.

And what was the point? There was no point to anything that it did. All of it served no purpose. It was basically just a poorly-done mishmash of crap from the Saw movies, from what I could tell, and not nearly as horrifying either.

It actually took me four or five separate attempts to finish watching it. The second to last attempt, I was 15 minutes from the end and I. Just. Couldn’t. I finally forced myself to drag through the last 15 minutes and it was so disappointing.

Such a waste of time, and a good idea.

To Sir, With Love (1966)

Date Watched: July 2, 2011

Oh I loved this. I really do enjoy Sidney Poiter. He’s the Denzel of the 60s. And I do love me some Denzel. But aside from his brilliant acting (and excellent enunciation), this quote solidified my love for this movie:

I am sick of your foul language, your crude behavior and your sluttish manner. There are certain things a decent woman keeps private, and only a filthy slut would have done this and those who stood by and encouraged her are just as bad. I don’t care who’s responsible – you’re all to blame. Now, I am going to leave this room for five minutes by which time that disgusting object had better be removed and the windows opened to clear away the stench. If you must play these filthy games, do them in your homes, and not in my classroom!

Oh, Sidney. I love it.
