Man, oh man. Doesn’t get any deeper and more despondent than this. Bobby is, well… I think the Beatles said it best. “A nowhere man, living in his nowhere land”. The more I think about it, the more perfect that song describes Bobby. He was a child musical prodigy, and he gave it up. But he doesn’t like what he ran from, and he doesn’t like what he ran to. He doesn’t like the snooty attitudes of his well-to-do family, and he doesn’t like his airheaded, pregnant girlfriend Rayette. Literally nothing makes him happy or satisfies him. The whole movie is Bobby flipping between survival modes… fight or flight. The whole thing is so real, and so passionate. I can’t even describe it. The whole film simmers… it’s a giant pressure cooker.

Just gotta watch it.
